🎄 Santa Parade to Light Up Downtown Mississauga
Mississauga’s long-awaited Santa Claus Parade is officially back on November 22, running through the downtown core alongside the city’s annual Christmas tree lighting at Celebration Square. Starting around 6 p.m., the nighttime parade will feature floats, music, and plenty of lights as it travels from the Cineplex parking lot near Square One. The parade, championed by Mayor Carolyn Parrish, aims to lift spirits, boost local pride, and bring families together.
🚗 Mississauga’s Speed Cameras to End Next Week
Mississauga’s 22 speed cameras will stay in operation until November 13 before being removed due to a new provincial ban on automated speed enforcement. The city says tickets will continue to be issued until the end of that day, and all fines already issued must still be paid. Officials are now preparing to take down the cameras and related signage across municipal roads.
City staff say the end of the program will put added pressure on local road safety efforts. Since launching in 2021, the cameras have helped cut school zone speeds by an average of 9 km/h. Mayor Carolyn Parrish and council had urged the province to reconsider the ban, calling the cameras an important tool for protecting children and seniors in neighbourhoods.
🏙️ Brightwater Expansion to Add Nearly 900 Homes
Mississauga’s massive Brightwater development in Port Credit is set to grow again, with plans for 898 additional residential units across two new apartment towers. The expansion would bring the total to 3,893 homes and raise the tallest buildings to 35 storeys. City council’s Planning and Development Committee will review the rezoning application at its November 10 meeting.
The 72-acre mixed-use project already includes condos, townhouses, retail space, and the new Farm Boy store. Future plans feature 18 acres of public parkland, a possible school, and community benefits like affordable housing and a pedestrian bridge over the Credit River.

🥢 Bao Bar Mississauga to Close This Month

Beloved Asian eatery Bao Bar is shutting its doors on November 30 after four years near Square One. The restaurant, located on Sherwoodtowne Blvd., became a local favourite for its inventive mix of Vietnamese and Taiwanese street food, including Chicken Katsu and Dynasty Duck baos, along with Seoul Kimchi Fries and Thai Tea.
In a statement, owners thanked customers for their support, saying they’re grateful for the community’s warm welcome since opening in 2021.
🎶 Mayor’s Concert Blends Music and Art Downtown
The Mississauga Symphony Orchestra is bringing The Ravel Experience to the Living Arts Centre on November 29, an evening sponsored by Mayor Carolyn Parrish. Conducted by Maestro Denis Mastromonaco, the concert will feature Ravel’s Daphnis et Chloé Suite No. 2, Piano Concerto in G Major with soloist Cecilia Chow, and Mussorgsky’s Pictures at an Exhibition.
After the show, guests can enjoy a Mix and Mingle in the atrium with artwork from the Art Gallery of Mississauga’s permanent collection.
