🍔 New Smash Burger Spot Arrives Soon

Soul Smash Burgers opens December 12 at Dundas and Winston Churchill, offering a tightly focused menu built around Canadian Prime beef and months of recipe testing. The team aimed for a classic, no-nonsense burger made with care, which fills a gap for quality smash patties in this part of Mississauga.
The Standard and the Core anchor the lineup, joined by a rotating feature and Impossible patties for vegetarians. Loaded Soul Fries and two rich sundaes round out a menu designed for people who want familiar favourites made thoughtfully and consistently.
🚔 Mississauga Moves Closer to Policing Independence
Mississauga has hired MCG Consulting Solutions to study whether the city should break away from Peel Regional Police and form its own force. City officials have long argued that Mississauga pays far more than its fair share, covering 62 percent of policing costs even though Brampton’s population is nearly identical. The five-month study will review that imbalance and assess what it would take to run a standalone service.
Mayor Carolyn Parrish says a city of Mississauga’s size is well positioned for its own police force, especially since smaller Ontario cities already operate independently. The study will include public consultations and access to Peel police data, giving residents a clearer picture of costs, benefits and the long term impact. Once complete, the results could form the basis of a formal proposal to the province.
🏙️ Tower Proposal Would Add Hundreds of Homes
A plan for Dundas and Agnes in Cooksville outlines a 34 storey tower with a seven storey podium and 559 homes, ranging from studios to three bedroom suites. The design also includes street level shops, a daycare and five townhouse units to support a more walkable stretch of Dundas.
Part of a 1913 heritage building would be incorporated into the base while other older structures would be removed. Indoor amenities such as a pool and fitness room are proposed, with the project set for discussion at January’s Planning and Development Committee meeting.

🎁 GTA Toy Drive Supports SickKids
A GTA Sahibzaada Toy Drive is collecting new toys for kids at SickKids, with drop off spots in Mississauga, Brampton, Scarborough and Vaughan. The drive honours the four Sahibzaade, symbols of courage, sacrifice and compassion.
Donations are welcome until December 5 and must be new, in original packaging. Families are encouraged to give puzzles, board games, art supplies, dolls, Lego, kid friendly electronics or gift cards, helping brighten hospital stays.
🍗 Chicken Shop Heads Back to Brampton
After spending a year in a temporary Mississauga spot on Argentina Road, the Maple Lodge Farms Chicken Shop is moving back to its longtime home on Winston Churchill Boulevard. The new space opens December 9 and brings an updated restaurant, expanded retail area and a bulk factory outlet, all designed to make the return feel like a fresh start for loyal customers.
The Mississauga location closes December 8, marking the end of its short stay. The new Brampton site adds outdoor seating and green space, giving regulars a more comfortable place to enjoy their favourites while keeping everything close to the Maple Lodge Farms production facility.
