🌆 LRT Delay Brings Fresh Concerns

Mississauga’s long awaited Hazel McCallion LRT is now expected to open in 2029, far later than early hopes of 2026. Mayor Carolyn Parrish shared the updated outlook after months of construction slowdowns that have stretched the project well beyond its original 2024 target.

Many have noticed how hard this has been on Hurontario businesses and nearby neighbourhoods. The finished line will be a major accomplishment, connecting Port Credit to Brampton, though people are growing frustrated with the delay.

🛴 Mississauga’s E-Scooter Program

Mississauga’s e-scooter and e-bike program wrapped up the 2025 season on a high note, with riders covering an impressive 336,313 kilometres. After a bumpy first year, staff say things have smoothed out thanks to better parking stations, stronger education efforts and fewer complaints coming in from residents.

Council will now look at options to grow the program as it enters year three. With improved compliance and more confident riders, the city sees room for safer and more convenient trips across our neighbourhoods.

🏊 Mississauga Weighs Costly Olympic Pool Idea

Mississauga councillors are still interested in the idea of bringing an Olympic sized pool to the city, but the price tag has many hitting pause. Recent discussions showed the project could cost more than $150 million to build, plus high yearly operating costs, which is more than council feels residents should shoulder right now.

With the province declining to fund the project, council is exploring partnerships with nearby municipalities and local institutions. The idea isn’t off the table, but it will need strong partners before it can move forward.
