🛒 Highland Farms Bids Mississauga Goodbye
Highland Farms has officially closed its doors at Matheson and Hurontario after 27 years, leaving many longtime shoppers feeling a real sense of loss. The spacious aisles, fresh produce and warm familiarity made it a go to spot for families across the city who appreciated its comfort and consistency.
Rumours had been swirling since the property went up for sale, and many believe the long LRT construction delays played a role. For locals, this closure feels like the end of a chapter, one tied to everyday routines and neighbourhood memories.
🛍️ Eco-Friendly Boutique Arrives in Heartland
A fresh new shop is joining Heartland Town Centre this week as The Kind Matter Company opens its newest 5,000 square foot location. The store focuses on low waste and no waste living, offering everything from refillable soaps and shampoos to sustainable kitchen essentials and thoughtful, handmade self care items that feel good to use and easy to gift.
Many in Mississauga may already know the brand from its Milton and Oakville beginnings. Now that it has joined the Terra Greenhouses family, the Heartland shop brings a bright, mindful shopping option to a busy retail area. It’s a lovely spot to explore if you enjoy practical eco swaps or simply a calming browse.

📊 Mississauga Backs Local Businesses
Mississauga is stepping up support for local companies as U.S. tariff concerns continue to create uncertainty for key industries. Council reviewed its Partners in Trade plan, which focuses on listening to business leaders, advocating for fair treatment, and helping protect jobs across manufacturing, transportation and warehousing.
Even with challenges, the city continues to attract new investment. By helping businesses adapt and diversify during shifting trade talks, Mississauga is working to keep the local economy strong and resilient.

🎉 Frank McKechnie Centre Marks 25 Years
The Frank McKechnie Community Centre and Library is celebrating a wonderful milestone, and the city is inviting everyone to join in. This long loved hub first opened in 2000, and the anniversary event will look back at its roots while opening a 25 year time capsule that many locals have been curious about for years. It’s a free, family friendly celebration with music, activities and a cheerful community spirit.
From dance performances to fun swims and fitness classes, there will be something for every age on November 29. Families can explore emergency vehicles, enjoy a reptile show and even grab some tasty treats, with swag bags for the first arrivals. It’s a warm reminder of how this centre has shaped neighbourhood life, and a lovely chance to reconnect with a place that has grown alongside the community.
🎅 Santa Parade Brings Magic Back Downtown
Downtown Mississauga was glowing this weekend as the Santa Claus parade returned to the City Centre for the first time in nearly twenty five years. An estimated 40,000 people lined the streets to welcome Santa, enjoy the twinkling lights and take in the marching bands and festive floats. Families filled Celebration Square, creating a cheerful holiday atmosphere that felt warm and familiar.
With so many neighbours gathered together, the evening became a real boost for community spirit. City leaders say they hope this marks the start of a new annual tradition, one that brings joy, pride and a little sparkle back to the heart of Mississauga each holiday season.
